General Information about the CompanyBecause of Sweden's geographic location, the country's economy has always been especially dependent on efficient transport systems. This applies to land transports as well as to shipping within Europe, and to oversea traffic. The importance of efficient transportation for the Swedish industry has led to a continuous development in Sweden within the fields of road transport, cargo handling, ships design and operation. Modern Ro/Ro technique, to mention one example, was born on the inter-Scandinavian routes and Sweden has, to a great extent, contributed to its further development. Increasing capital and transport costs have created a clearly growing interest in distribution and storage problems. Successful shipping and port activities therefore require an increasing degree of active engagement in customers' total transport functions. Environmental impact from transportation has proved to be a major cause of pollution of air and water. Transport systems for the future therefore have to consider not only logistic and economic factors but also their impact on the environment. MariTerm has adopted this approach and established an engineering company with an interdisciplinary direction. The organization mainly consists of university engineers and economists, who possess knowledge and experience of most of the areas connected with goods transportation. MariTerm AB was founded in 1978 and is owned by four senior consultants, employed by the company. The activities can be divided into the following main areas: 1. Transport System Analyses, Logistics
2. Ship Design and Safety
3. Cargo Care
4. Feasibility Studies of Infrastructure Investment Projects
5. Environmental Impacts from Transportation
6. Development Aid Project within the Goods Transportation FieldThe experts of the company cover almost all aspects of goods transportation on road, rail or sea from the logistic point of view. The company is leading within this field in Sweden, combining qualified consultancy tasks with high level of transport research projects. This combination ensures that our knowledge is always on the transport development frontier. |
